Waterton
Waterton Townsite: Waterton’s service centre is located in the heart of the National Park. The tiny year-round community, population 90, welcomes travelers from around the world. Surrounded by magnificent scenery, visitors will find all the services to make their stay a memorable one. A stroll around town is a popular past-time. Street side eateries offer a variety of cuisines. Shops and gift boutiques appeal. On Main Street you can watch Daniel, at the Eloquence Gallery, create unique jewelry handmade from the finest Canadian diamonds, Ammolite, Montana sapphires and other local gems. Cameron Falls: A popular townsite attraction is beautiful Cameron Falls. The outflow from serene Cameron Lake, high above the townsite, cascades over the oldest exposed strata in the Canadian Rockies. In spring, visitors to the Falls are treated to the melodic mating song of the Water Ouzel or American Dipper. This delightful little bird nests in waterfalls and feeds in the fast running stream. It bobs and dips as it hunts and swims beneath the water in search of insects and larvae. It can actually walk on the bottom underwater. Waterton is an excellent birding destination; more than 250 species have been identified here.
