Royal Ontario Museum - Ontario
No trip to Toronto is complete without a visit to the Royal Ontario Museum. Renowned for its collections of world cultures and natural history, the Royal Ontario Museum features galleries of ancient Egypt, arms and armour, China, Japan, Canada's First Peoples and more. In June 2007, the new Michael Lee-Chin Crystal opens. Royal Ontario Museum is Canada's largest museum, with more than 6 million objects in its collections. And in 2006, many of those pieces will be back on display as the museum's ambitious renovation plan winds up. Called Renaissance ROM, this C$200 million (US$160 million) project is adding six new galleries overlooking Bloor Street West. The galleries will be encased inside an über-modern palace of jutting crystal prisms designed by Daniel Libeskind.
